House Survey Reveals Poorly Built Extension
During a recent house survey we discovered that the house had an additional extension built to the rear. The current home owner was trying desperately to clear a blocked waste pipe before we arrived. On inspection the extension had been built over a waste pipe AJ and the home owner didn't know how to open it.
The foundations had been started from the path. During a normal extension the path would be broken up removed and remedial ground works would be required to move waste and drain pipes.
Building like this without proper foundations can lead to movement and sinking of the extension and then to structural cracks developing in walls. Roof integrity can be compromised which is not good for high winds and winter storms. This can also lead to drafts which reduce the energy performance of your home.
This was of course mentioned with photographs in our report.
